WHEN TO TRAVEL TO BHUTAN
  • The best time to travel is around the second half of March ,April and May  then October until mid-November
  • But Bhutan is a year round destination and you can entertain visiting any month of the year.
  • The skies are clear and the high mountain peaks are visible around this time of the year. This is the ideal time for trekking and for traveling throughout the country.
What do you need to know before travelling to Bhutan
  • You must book your travel through a local tour operator or international partner
  • There is a minimum daily package for the tourist
  • Full payment of holiday is required before visa is endorsed by the Tourism Council, payment is via wire transfer
  • On receipt of payment tourist visa is issued
  • Payment is retained by the Council until the tourist has departed Bhutan
How much will your Tour Cost?
  • The Current Bhutan daily all-inclusive rate is $ 250/day during the peak season
  • $ 200 per person per night for the off season(January, February, June, July, August & December)
  • The rate is inclusive of a minimum of 3 star accommodation, all meals, all internal taxes and charges, all transportation in your own vehicle with drive and a licensed guide and all sightseeing
  • You do not need to spend more, however, there must be a minimum of 3 people travelling together for a group tour.
Private Tour
  • Your tour will be quoted at $ 250 all- inclusive rate per day, plus
  • There will be a mandatory surcharge as follows;
  • $30 per person per day if only two individuals travel
  • $40 per day per person if you are a solo traveler
Which is better, group tour or private tour?
  • The base rate for either tour is the same, $250/day
  • Private tour is more expensive on the account of additional surcharges
  • But private tour allows for the comforts and conveniences of travelling on your own, having the vehicle, drive and guide to yourself.
Wiring Money into Bhutan
  • The simplest way of making a wire transfer to Bhutan is to visit a bank and make the transfer in person. Most of our guests transfer money through their banks website. If your bank has this online money transfer facility, check if Bhutan National Bank is on their list of banks.
  • If the Bhutan National Bank is on the list (www.bnb.bt), you can wire the money straight to the bank without channeling the transfer through the correspondent bank (Bank of America or Standard Chartered Bank or any other bank listed on the list of correspondent banks
  • Please note that there are two SWIFT codes. One of for the correspondent bank and one is for the bank in Bhutan. Many people get confused with the two SWIFT codes given on the bank details for making the transfer.

Travel Formalities:

Air Entry: your e-tickets will be emailed to you prior to your departure from your station. We will reconfirm your ticket and let you know of any changes. The Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines carrier operates flights to limited destinations,  (i) Bangkok in Thailand; (ii) New Delhi, Mumbai  Bagdora, Kolkata and Guwahati in India; (iii) Kathmandu in Nepal.(iv) Singapore.

Passport & Visa Arrangements: Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from your date of departure to Bhutan. Passports are stamped when you arrive. E visa copy will be emailed to you prior to your departure to Bhutan. Please be at the check-in counter at least three hours before the expected departure time for your flight

Customs:The following articles are exempt from duty: Personal effects and articles for day to day use by the visitor

  • 1 liter of alcohol (spirits or wine)
  • 200 cigarettes, on payment of import duty of 200%
  • Instruments, apparatus or appliances for professional use
  • Photographic equipment, video cameras and other electronic goods for personal use
